Tony Bennett, 85 anni appena compiuti, ai microfoni di Mtv ha da poco annunciato che il classico pezzo jazz “Body and Soul” rifatto ad inizo anno insieme alla sfortnata artista scomparsa qualche giorno fa, Amy Winehouse, sarà il primo estratto dal nuovo album di duetti dell’artista americano intitolato “Tony Bennett: duets II“, che sarà pubblicato il prossimo 20 settembre e sarà il sequel di “Duets: an American classic“.
“Eravamo tutti apprensivi su come sarebbe andata ma lei è stata veramente la migliore di tutti i giovani artisti che ho incontrato negli ultimi 10-15 anni. Cantava vero jazz. E’ così triste. Avrei voluto parlarle e dirle che se non avesse smesso sarebbe morta. Avrei voluto parlarle delle droghe, ma sfortunatamente non ne ho mai avuto occasione”.
Mentre ai microfoni di Mtv, Bennett ha dichiarato:
“Faremo uscire ‘”Body and Soul” prima dell’album e i proventi andranno alla fondazione lanciata dal padre per insegnare ai ragazzi a non prendere droghe. Tutti i diritti del disco andranno lì”. Il pezzo farà anche parte del disco in uscita il 20 settembre, dal titolo “Tony Bennett: Duets 2“.
