Gli U2 stanno tentando disperatamente di ritornare alle origini, visti gli ultimi esperimenti andati male e si nota in particolare in “You’re the best thing about me“.
Si tratta del nuovo singolo estratto dall’album “Songs of experience“, il seguito di “Songs of innocence” che suscita già molta curiosità. Questo potrebbe essere il brano fortunato dell’album, in attesa di sapere cosa ci riservano gli altri, ma le sonorità sembrano guardare indietro, alle vecchie glorie che gli U2 hanno saputo regalare al loro pubblico.
Per il momento Bono e co. hanno scelto di pubblicare un lyric video, l’artwork è opera di Anton Corbijn, ormai immancabile collaboratore della band irlandese, e il tocco è inconfondibile. Gli U2 hanno scelto di tornare facendo una sorpresa ai loro fan, alcune persone a Dublino avevano infatti ricevuto una lettera che riportava delle frasi del poema “Songs of Innocence and Experience” di William Blake, al quale si ispirano i due ultimi album degli U2, che li rimandava al sito ufficiale. In seguito la band ha lanciato il singolo “The blackout” per anticipare l’uscita del nuovo disco, che uscirà a dicembre, anche se non c’è ancora una data precisa.
