Adele e PJ Harvey vincitori Ivor Novello Awards 2012

Si è svolta ieri, 17 Maggio a Londra, la cerimonia degli Ivor Novello Awards che ha visto il trionfo, scontato, di Adele.

La cantante britannica ha vinto la nomination per la canzone più eseguita nel 2011, “Rolling in the deep“, e quello come compositore dell’anno. Una volta ricevuto il premio in lacrime da Annie Lennox Adele si è lasciata sfuggire una confessione ammettendo che nn si sarebbe mai aspettata che il brano diventasse un successo mondiale.

Alla cerimonia non ha preso parte PJ Harvey la quale si è aggiudicata però il premio più ambito come miglior album per “Let England Shake” (gia vincitore del Mercury Music Prize) battendo “21” di Adele e “50 Words For Snow” di Kate Bush. Per la prima volta nei 57 anni di storia degli Ivor Novello Awards le nomination come miglior album erano costituite da sole donne.

Lana Del Rey invece ha vinto per la Miglior Canzone Contemporanea per “Video Games“, mentre Best Song Musically and Lyrically è andato a Ed Sheeran per “The A Team” battendo ” Rolling In The Deep” di Adele e “Shake It Out” di Florence And The Machine.
Gary Kemp degli Spandau Ballet si è visto consegnare il premio “Outstanding song collection” mentre ai Take That è andata la premiazione come “Outstanding contribution to British music”. A Mark Knopfler invece è andato “Lifetime achievement honour”, una sorta di premio alla carriera e Paul Simon ha preso il premio Lifetime Achievement.

  • PRS for Music outstanding contribution to British music – Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Jason Orange, Mark Owen and Robbie Williams (Take That)
  • Best song musically and lyrically – The A Team, Ed Sheeran
  • Lifetime achievement – Mark Knopfler
  • Songwriter of the year – Adele Adkins
  • Best television soundtrack – The Shadow Line, Martin Phipps
  • The Ivors jazz award – Stan Tracey
  • Best original film score – The First Grader, Alex Heffes
  • PRS for Music special international award – Jimmy Webb
  • BASCA fellowship – Andrew Lloyd Webber
